The institution makes available to students and the public current academic calendars, grading policies, and refund policies.
Southeastern is in compliance with Federal Requirement 4.3.
The University's General Catalogue is the primary source of official information for all undergraduate and graduate students relative to academic calendars and policies. However, Southeastern attempts to use multiple methods to communicate with students about important dates and issues.
The official academic calendar is published in the University's General Catalogue and in the annual Registration Guide published by the office of Records and Registration. Students are also reminded of important academic dates on the University website. A University Calendar page shows the academic calendars for the summer, fall, and spring semesters of the current academic year. The exam schedules are also available from this web page, as well as an events calendar. The Office of Records and Registration posts notices to students about events such as academic advising, registration, deadlines for graduation, etc., through use of student e-mail and the University's student bulletin board on the WebMail page. A link to the academic calendar is also on the Office of Records and Registration web page.
Grading policies as they apply to students, including grade appeals processes, are posted in the General Catalogue in the Admission Criteria and Academic Regulations section (pages 53-55). Grading policies for individual courses are required on all course syllabi as per the Provost's standard semester memo to all faculty. The University requires that all syllabi contain information on evaluation methods, including course objectives, methods of grading and/or grade scale, approximate number and type of major examinations, papers, and projects, other factors influencing the student's grade, and class attendance requirements.
General refund policies, as well as information on tuition and fess and the deadlines for payment of fees, is contained in the General Catalogue in the Fees and Expenses section (pages 71-72). Information on tuition and fees is also available on Southeastern's web site. This page also contains information on the refund policy as it applies to dropping classes.
