The majority of credits toward a graduate or a post-baccalaureate professional degree is earned through the institution awarding the degree. In the case of graduate and post-baccalaureate professional degree programs offered through joint, cooperative, or consortia arrangements, the student earns a majority of credits from the participating institutions.

Southeastern is in compliance with Graduate and Post-Baccalaureate Professional Programs Comprehensive Standard 3.6.3.

Southeastern Louisiana University allows no more than one-third of the required hours for any graduate or post-baccalaureate professional degree as transferred credit from another institution. As stated on page 263 of Southeastern's General Catalogue, “No more than one-third of the hours required for graduation may be transferred.” This is true of the Intercollegiate Consortium for the Master of Science Degree in Nursing as well as traditional master's degree programs offered by Southeastern. The other two institutional members of the consortium, McNeese State University and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, also require that not more than one-third of the courses required for the degree be accepted as transfer credit from another institution.
