Swamp Lily

There are six species of plants referred to as the swamp lily. Crinum americanum is the scientific name for one species of swamp lily that is native to Florida and the Southeastern region of the United States. None of the other species are native to the area, but after being introduced to the Unites States several species continue to grow in Louisiana.

Swamp lilies are known for having a very pleasant smell. They grow best in marsh, swamps and river banks where the soil is consistently moist.
