There are several hundred species of oak and many of these species grow in the Unites States. In
Oak trees produce small nuts called acorns. Acorns are an important food source for many animals and they have been used by people both as food and for medicinal purposes. The leaves of all types of live oaks are evergreen, which means they remain green all year unlike the leaves on many trees, which change colors and fall off in the Fall.
