Classroom incivility |
Tuesday T-Time: The Center offers
interactive discussions on select Tuesday afternoons during
the semester. The goal of these sessions is to provide an
informal opportunity for colleagues to share teaching ideas
and mentor each other as we implement the ideas in our
classrooms. Discussions on civility are scheduled for March 13
and April 17. A panel of professionals will lead the
discussion. Panelists include representatives from the
counseling center, the human resource office, the University
Police, and members of the faculty senate. |

Book Club - A Teacher’s Guide
to Classroom Assessment: Understanding and Using Assessment to
Improve Student Learning by Susan M. Butler and Nancy D.
McMunn.
A workshop on, “Using Rubrics to
Assess Project-based Learning,” will be held on March 21.
Presenters will be Dr. Carol Madere of the Communication
Department and Dr. Natasha Whitton of the English Department.

Mentor Team: Dr. Rick Miller,
Faculty Fellow for Research with the Center for Faculty
Excellence, has established a team of previous grant awardees
to serve as mentors for faculty writing grants |

Balancing teaching, research, and service |
The Center hosts an annual Portfolio
Fair each November. Sample portfolios are displayed and
experienced faculty are present to discuss faculty issues on
teaching, research and service. The Fair is open to all
faculty and focuses on annual evaluations, 3rd year
reviews, and the tenure/promotion process. |
