COLLABORATIVE UNIVERSITY AND DISTRICT PREPARATION CONTRACT

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR SEMESTERS
FALL 2007 AND SPRING 2008
Southeastern Louisiana University
and _________ Parish Schools confirm their
partnership in the preparation of undergraduate and graduate
students in the College of Education and Human Development to
work in the schools of Ascension Parish in preparation for a
professional career in education. Both parties agree to
collaborate in the planning and presentation of in-school,
authentic field experiences for individual college students in
the elementary, middle, secondary, and special education teacher
preparation programs.
Southeastern Louisiana University agrees to consult with
teachers and administrators of ________ Parish Schools in
the designing and planning of pre-student teaching field
participation activities; to coordinate these field experiences
through a single university office, that of the Office of the
Field Experience Director; and to consult with and schedule all
activities through the principal’s office of the assigned
school. Southeastern Louisiana University Field
Experience Director shall work directly with the assigned school
principals in the selection of qualified teachers who will give
the most diverse classroom setting to the teaching candidates.
__________ Parish agrees to assign a school district
designee who will work with the PK-16 Field Experience Director
to assist in identification of schools that will participate in
the pre-student teaching field experience activity.
Participating schools will identify field service teachers based
on the following criteria:
(1)
principal
recommendation,
(2)
Louisiana
certification,
(3)
at least
three years of teaching
experience, and
(4)
agreement
to participate
Administration, faculty, and staff
of each _______
Parish School agree to participate as a partnership school with
Southeastern Louisiana University and the College of Education
and Human Development in the preparation of classroom teachers
to work in Louisiana schools. Cooperating classroom teachers
will work with Southeastern instructors in the planning of the
field experiences which may include direct observation,
individual tutoring and coaching, preparing instructional
materials, small group instruction, classroom teaching and
relevant, authentic assessment activities.
Southeastern Louisiana University faculty and _________ Parish
teachers recognize and accept that the highest priority is
the needs of the students in the field experience classes.
Southeastern faculty and college field experience participants
that work in classrooms with Ascension Parish teachers will
enhance learning opportunities for children while at the same
time gain valuable, authentic field experiences for prospective
teachers. Thus, it is the hope that this agreement will further
a cooperative pact between the university and the school
district.
