Steve Portier

(Chief Engineer)

Steve Portier‘s first position in broadcasting came in 1976 as a Cameraman at WALB-TV in his hometown of Albany, GA. Steve returned to school at Albany Technical where he obtained both an electronic technology degree and a FCC radiotelephone license in 1981. Steve started his first radio position as a staff engineer at WNOE-AM and FM in New Orleans, LA in 1981. He then returned to his hometown of Albany, GA where he was an account representative for Y100-FM and served as their contract engineer from 1987 until 1989.

Then, Steve joined WSB AM and FM in Atlanta, GA as a staff engineer from 1989 thru 1992. Portier then returned to New Orleans in 1992 where he worked at WWL-AM.
He was soon promoted to Chief Engineer in 1995 where he remained until joining KSLU Public Radio as Chief Engineer in 2001.
