SOUTHEASTERN WILL CO-SPONSOR SEMINARS ON Y2K PROBLEM
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Small Business Development
Center along with the Denham Springs Dixie Business Development Center and the Northshore
SCORE Chapter will co-sponsor two seminars on "Understanding the Year 2000 Problem - What
Will Y2K Mean for You." The seminars will take place from 2pm to 4pm Tuesday, February 23
at the SLU University Center and 6pm to 8pm Thursday, March 18 at the Dixie Business Center
in Denham Springs.
Y2K, the inability of computers and embedded chips to process dates beyond
December 31, 1999, is predicted to effect computers along with VCRs, elevators, automobiles,
and even watches. Kevin Calmes, Southeastern's webmaster and computer technology
instructor, will detail Y2K problems and offer solutions for Y2K compliance.
The cost to attend each of the seminars is $15 per person and includes handout materials
and refreshments. Pre-registration is highly recommended, as seating is limited. For more
information, contact Bobbie Schnepf at the Small Business Development Center, (504)549-3831.
