SLU HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR YOUNG ACTORS MAY 17 AND 18
HAMMOND - Auditions for Southeastern Louisiana University's dance production of
"Wild Kingdom" will be held Friday, May 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 18, from 2 to
5 p.m. in the dance studio of Southeastern's Kinesiology and Health Studies building, room 153.
Actors ages 11 to 14 will have the opportunity to try out for a new film by Alan Marsh,
which is scheduled to premiere in October 2002 during Fanfare, the university's annual festival
of the arts, humanities and sciences.
"'Wild Kingdom' features a junior high student who employs the camouflage techniques
of animals in the wild to avoid being called on in class," said Martie Fellom, director of
Southeastern's dance program and producer of the film. Students chosen for the film will attend
rehearsals throughout June and the shoot in July.
Casting director is Conor McGibboney and Claude A. Levet, Southeastern university
photographer, will serve as director of photography. Marsh, Fellom and Levet have previously
joined together for another short film, "Wish," which last month was awarded a Gold Award, the
second-place award for experimental dramatic films at the Worldfest-Houston International Film
Festival.
Those auditioning are told to bring with them a snapshot of themselves. High school
students interested in working non-gratis on the production may contact Fellom directly. For
more information, call Fellom at 985-549-2133.
