FLORIDA PARISHES HISTORY -- State Archivist Florent Hardy Jr., right, makes a point
about the only known surving copy of the constitution of the Republic of West Florida, one of
the documents in a new display about the West Florida Rebellion. The exhibit opened March 13
at Southeastern Louisiana University's Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies. The constitution
is on loan from the State Archives. Viewing the exhibit are, from left, Southeastern President
Randy Moffett, Judge Leon Ford III of Hammond, and Samuel C. Hyde Jr., director of the center
and Ford Family Endowed Chair in Regional Studies. The exhibit will be on display in
Southeastern's Sims Memorial Library through June 15. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
weekdays.
