SLU COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL SPONSORS VIOLIN COMPETITION
     HAMMOND -- Young violinists ages eight to 18 are invited to participate in a special
competition at Southeastern Louisiana University sponsored by the university's Community
Music School.
     The Young Musicians Violin Concerto Competition is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 27 at Southeastern's Pottle Music Building Auditorium, said Community
Music School Director Thais Perkins.
     Winners of the competition will perform later this spring with the Southeastern Chamber
Orchestra, conducted by strings professor Yakov Voldman.
     Sponsored by the departments of Music and Dramatic Arts and Continuing Education, the
Community Music School provides quality music instruction to students of  all ages and levels of
