SBDC SETS SEMINARS  ON PROGRAM CERTIFICATION AND LOANS
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Small Business Development
Center will host two Small Business Administration seminars on program certification and loans. 
     Both programs are scheduled for June 8 in the Southeastern University Center, Room
139. Cost is $20 per seminar or $30 for both.
     SBA 8(a) Program Certification for Small Businesses and Women-owned Businesses, set
for 3-5 p.m.,  will give participants the criteria necessary to become 8(a) certified and will outline
the process to follow for certification. Participants also will learn about a variety of business
development services including opportunity to receive federal contracts on a sole-source or
limited competition basis.
     SBA Loan Programs and Contract Financing is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. and will cover the
various business loans, loan guarantees and disaster loans offered by the SBA. The program also
will discuss President Clinton's New Markets Initiative. The federal program makes available
approximately $15 billion to under-served urban and rural areas through programs such as the
New Market Tax Credit, America's Private Investment Companies, Small Business Investment
Company, Community Development Financial Institutions and BusinessLNC.
