SOUTHEASTERN STUDENT JOINS LOUISIANA SYSTEM BOARD
     HAMMOND -- TiJean Rodriguez, president of Southeastern Louisiana University's
Student Government Association, was sworn in as the newest member of the Board of
Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System at its monthly meeting in Baton Rouge on
Friday, August 27.
     Rodriguez, a senior from Independence, will serve as the board's student member during
the 1999-2000 academic year. He  and was elected to the position by other students leaders from
throughout the University of Louisiana System. He replaces University of Louisiana at Lafayette
(formerly University of Southwestern Louisiana) student Ravis Martinez. As the student
member, he will serve on the Academic and Student Affairs, Grievance, Legislation and
Personnel Committees. 
     "I will represent the students of this system to the best of my ability," Rodriguez said. "I
am looking forward to this next year as we work to advance higher education in Louisiana."
     Joining Rodriguez and members of his family for the swearing in ceremony were
Southeastern President Sally Clausen, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Randy
Moffett and Vice President for Administration and Finance Stephen Smith.
