SLU SINGERS TO PRESENT CONCERT APRIL 12
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University voice students Daveda Karanas,
Summer Grest Karagiozov and Amanda Tarver will present a recital of operatic arias and art
songs at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 12 in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
     The singers were awarded grants for summer study in Europe last year through the
College of Arts and Sciences' Office of Student Creative Activities and Research (OSCAR)
program. The OSCAR program provides grants for undergraduate students to conduct research or
engage in creative ventures with Southeastern faculty  members.
     Karanas, a junior vocal performance major from Mandeville, studied at the University of
Miami's summer program in Salzburg, Austria. Karagiozov, who is from Ponchatoula and will
graduate in vocal performance in May, studied at the "Oberlin in Italy" program in Urbania,
Italy. 
Tarver, from Gonzalas, studied in Greve, Italy at Daniel Ferro's Summer Master Class. She is a
junior majoring in general studies with a vocal emphasis.  
     The singers, accompanied by pianists Raisa Voldman and Charles Effler, will present
music by Schubert, Gluck, Bizet, Bernstein, Menotti, Handel, and others.
