NEW SLU ST TAMMANY CENTER TO EXPAND OFFERINGS
HAMMOND --St. Tammany residents have had the opportunity to take university
courses at night at Southeastern Louisiana University's Covington Center for several years. With
Southeastern moving its parish operations to the new St. Tammany Center location on Koop
Drive (approximately 1/4 mile north of Abita Springs), beginning in the spring of 2000, daytime
courses will also be available.
That's just in time for Southeastern's early registration, November 8-12, according to
Dean of Continuing Education Gerald Guidroz. "We're very excited about being able to offer this
expanded daytime schedule in addition to our evening course selection," he said.
The building, which is part of the parish government complex, houses parish and state
offices on the first two floors and Southeastern's St. Tammany Center on the third floor.
"The new center is strategically located in St Tammany, and it's easily accessible from
anywhere in the parish. We think the expanded daytime offerings will be helpful to the traditional
and non-traditional students from St. Tammany, especially for those individuals who have been
unable to attend evening classes," said Guidroz.
In addition, Guidroz said the new facility will allow for the development of courses in both
the credit and non-credit areas that meet the needs of the business community and the general
population.
Early registration is scheduled for November 8-12 at the present Covington Center
location. Spring semester classes are scheduled to begin at the new site on January 18. For more
