VARIETY OF SUMMER CAMPS OFFERED AT SOUTHEASTERN 
     HAMMOND -- Registration is now underway for Southeastern Louisiana University's
summer day camp and specialty camps in art, music, dance and cheerleading.
     Young artists, ages six to13 can participate in the Department of Visual Arts and
Department of Continuing Education's Children's Art Education Workshops, July 9-19. Sessions
will be held Monday through Thursday 9:30 to 11 a.m. or Monday through Thursday 2 to 3:30
p.m. Participants will create a variety of artwork in different media based on the theme "Summer
Travel and Transportation" and construct musical instruments with an artistic flair. 
     Students' work will be displayed in an open house at the end of the program. Enrollment
is limited and is not guaranteed unless the registration fee accompanies the registration form. 
     The camp will also be offered 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. July 9-19 at the Covington Community
Workforce Center (old Baptist Church building) on Jefferson Avenue in Covington. 
     Southeastern's Summer Day Camp is open to children ages 5-10 and provides a variety of
sport skill acquisition, physical fitness and recreational games.  Campers will participate in
various team and individual sports, as well as recreational swimming and crafts.  
     There are four two-week sessions: Session I, June 4-15; Session II, June 18-29; Session
III, July 9-20; and Session IV, July 23-August 3.  The camps are held 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday.  Deadlines for registration and payment of fees are 4:30 p.m. June 1 for
Session I, June 15 for Session II, July 6 for Session III, and July 20 for Session IV.
     Budding musicians who have finished the fourth through tenth grades, but not the
eleventh grade, can participate in the Young Musicians' Camp, July 9-20, with sessions from 8
a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Age and experience requirements for string and piano
players are more flexible.  The camp includes band, small ensembles, evening recitals, choral
singing, music theory, private lessons, and recreation, including swimming at the University
pool.

Variety of Summer Camps Offered at Southeastern   add one
     Southeastern hosts several cheerleading camps throughout the summer including the
Universal Cheerleaders Association, June 5-8, July 6-9, and July 17-20; National Cheerleaders
Association, June 12-15; American All-Star, June 18-21; Southwestern Cheerleaders
Association, June 21-24; and American Cheerleaders Association, June 25-28.
     Drill and Dance Teams are also included in summer lineup.  NCA Danz will hold camp
June 12-15 featuring instruction in a variety of dance styles, fundamentals in marching and more. 
The Universal Dance Association, July 9-12 and July 13-16, offers drill techniques, parade
routines and precision kick routines. The Universal Dance Association Elite Camp will be held
June 11-14 instructing competition oriented teams on choreography and techniques.
