SPENCE'S LOYALTY TO SLU SPANS TWO DECADES
HAMMOND -- Lee Spence, senior vice president and senior trust officer of Parish
National Bank in Covington, has been such a good friend to Southeastern Louisiana University
over the past 20 years that in 1988 the Alumni Association named him an honorary lifetime
member.
In the decade since, his loyalty and service have remained constant.
Spence, a former chairman and member of the Southeastern Development Foundation
Board, has long been an influencing factor in the Foundation's fund-raising efforts. He was the
force behind obtaining $140,000 in grants from the Davis Foundation, including a recent
$25,000 gift and an earlier $15,000 grant for the College of Basic Studies. Spence's wife, Sarah,
a Southeastern graduate, has been a member of the English Department faculty and is now
interim director of the Developmental Education department.
"I'm really impressed with the job that Dr. Clausen and her staff is doing," said Spence.
"The Foundation has meant a lot to me over the years and I'm happy to do things for the
university."
