SOUTHEASTERN SIFE STUDENTS WIN AT NEW ORLEANS EVENT

     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE)
won the championship at the SIFE regional competition held in New Orleans April 9.
     Southeastern's SIFE team, directed by general business professor David Ramsey,
defeated four other teams from East Texas Baptist University, North Dakota State University,
Prairie View A& M University and Talladega College. 
     The Southeastern SIFE team also won a special competition known as Success 2000. The
Southeastern projects focused on workplace literacy.   
     At the competition Southeastern's team also received a trophy for their participation in
October's Make-a-Difference Day national competition. Southeastern SIFE students were one of
15 national finalists in that competition. 
     The 1999 SIFE team participants are: Jamie Purpera and Stephan Wascom, of
Hammond, Lisa Starkey of Natalbany, Shannon Beverly of Robert, Jamie Allen Kinchen of
Ponchatoula, Roshanda Johnson and Chad Thompson, of Independence, Julie Andries, Ray
Talamo and Jeff Ward, of Covington, Sonya Jarvis, Jill Marange, Jeremy Villere of Mandeville, 
Mel Robertson of Pine Grove, Emily Whitman of Denham Springs, Jamie Jackson, Carrie
McFerrin and Aimee Miremount, of Baton Rouge, Julie Adel Babin of Gonzales, Holly Knieper
of Metairie, Frank DeSio of Gretna, Glenn Rhodes of Thibodaux, Teresa Billings of
Memphis, Tenn., and Melissa Baiamonte Travis of Osyka, Miss.
