SOUTHEASTERN STUDENT WINS TNT SCREENWRITING CONTEST
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University student Phil Sevin was recently
selected as the round eight winner of the Turner Network Television Screenwriting Challenge.
Sevin's entry was chosen from contest participants on the World Wide Web, beating out
competitors from around the world and winning the TNT award. Pen Densham, writer for the
feature film "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" and TNT's production of "Houdini," judged the
challenge.
Sevin, a senior mass communications major from Zachary, is also a member of
Southeastern's Creative Writers Group. CWG president Wayne Cain said, "Sevin's award comes
as no surprise. We've worked together on screenwriting projects as well as radio scripts. He is
certainly a major talent." Cain and Sevin are two of the founding members of Forbidden Theatre,
a group of students who write, produce and direct a weekly half-hour radio program.
Sevin was recently in the casts of Southeastern Theatre's productions of "The Compleat
Works of Wllm Shksp" and "Fortinbras." In 1996, he directed a video short called "I Versus I,"
which won first place in the Electronic Arts category at the Southeastern Art Show.
Sevin's winning chapter and other winning chapters can be read online at

and final chapter.
