DISTRICT 8 SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS ANNOUNCED

HAMMOND Thomas Cleveland of Fontainebleau High School took overall first place
honors for his project, "Underground Plant Structures as a Source of Antimicrobial Volatiles," at
the District 8 Science Fair held at Southeastern Louisiana University March 24.
Shawn Hymel of St. Paul's School placed second with "Soapy Simulations" and third
place went to Shaunna Lizak of Hammond High School for "The Effectiveness of Sunscreen and
a Comparison of Costs."
Kim Bartlett of St. Scholastica received the Outstanding Secondary Science Teacher
award.
The first, second and third place regional winners, will advance to the state science fair
held in April at Louisiana State University.
