26 SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE IN STATE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
HAMMOND -- A total of 26 junior high and high schools from throughout the state have
been chosen to participate in the Louisiana Science Olympiad on April 6 at Southeastern
Louisiana University. The schools finished in the top five at district olympiads held earlier this
year.
Participating schools are:
ALEXANDRIA: Alexandria Country Day School
BREAUX BRIDGE: St. Bernard School
BATON ROUGE: Baton Rouge Magnet High School
BOUTTE: Hahnville High School
CECILIA: Cecilia High School
CHALMETTE: Andrew Jackson High School
GUEYDAN: St. Peter School
LAFAYETTE: Lafayette High School, Paul Breaux Middle School
METAIRIE: St. Martin's Episcopal School, Ridgewood Preparatory School, St. Martin's
Episcopal School
NEW IBERIA: New Iberia Senior High School, Westgate High School, Belle Place
Middle School.
NEW ORLEANS: Academy of the Sacred Heart, Benjamin Franklin High School, Louise
McGehee School, St. George's Episcopal School, St. Paul's Episcopal
PINEVILLE: Tioga Middle School
SHREVEPORT: C.E. Byrd High School, Caddo Magnet High School, Northwood High
School, Caddo Middle School, St. Mark's Cathedral School.
Students will compete in 23 events from "Balloon Race" to "Weather or Not" that
use the format of popular board games, television shows and athletic games to test their
knowledge of science disciplines such as biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers
and technology.
