8 SCIENCE FAIR TOP TEACHER – Southeastern Louisiana University mathematics

8 SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS – Carl Ramsey and Bradley Kraemer of Hammond High
School were the grand prize winners at the Region 8 Science Fair, held
at Southeastern Louisiana University on March 19. The pair, who took first
place in the Senior Division “Computers” category, will advance to the
state Science Fair with their project, “Intel or AMD?” From left are Karen
Soniat, executive assistant to Southeastern President Randy Moffett, Ramsey,
Kraemer, and Al Doucet, interim dean of Southeastern’s College of Arts
and Sciences.
HAMMOND HIGH PAIR WINS REGION 8 SCIENCE FAIR
HAMMOND -- Bradley Kraemer and
Carl Ramsey of Hammond High School took first place in the 2003 Region
8 Science Fair held at Southeastern Louisiana University March 19.
The pair received a $500 cash prize
and, along with first, second and third place regional winners, will advance
to the state science fair at Louisiana State University.
Second place honors went to Brian
Ryals of The St. Paul School in Covington and third to Robert E. “Reb”
Bel III of Amite High.
Pat Bender, a veteran science
teacher at Hammond High School, was named the Outstanding Secondary Science
Teacher.
The Navy/Marine Corps Distinguished
Achievement Awards went to Senior Division entries Maria Town, Hammond
High School, first; Keith Reynolds, St. Paul’s, second; Katie Read, St.
Scholastic Academy in Covington, third, and Kelly Williams, Hammond High
School, fourth. Junior Division winners were Donald Connor, Mary Queen
of Peace in xxxx, first; Lauren Dehart, Fontainebleau Jr. High, second.
The Iota Sigma Pi Women in Chemistry
Award for the best project by a female students in the chemistry, biochemistry
and environmental science divisions went to Lauren Carroll, Albany Middle
School, and Sarah Schnadelbach, Holy Ghost School.
Winners of Department of Agriculture
Awards were Megan Thibodeaux, St. Peter Elementary, and Erin Kinchen, Hammond
High School.
