SLU PRESIDENT SALLY CLAUSEN NAMED TO GOVERNOR'S HIGHER
EDUCATION TRANSITION TEAM
HAMMOND -- Sally Clausen, president of Southeastern Louisiana University, has been
named to Governor Mike Foster's transition team on higher education.
"It has become apparent that your professional experience in education and government
would be an asset to our transition team," said Gov. Foster earlier this week in a letter to Clausen.
"I would very much appreciate it if you would agree to serve."
Clausen, a long-time voice for quality education, says she is pleased to join the team that
will provide all higher education information to the governor.
"I look forward to working with my colleagues who truly care about the future of higher
education as we chart a course for quality change," Clausen said. "This is a weighty task because
the answers will not be easy, but I am eager to assist Gov. Foster in doing the right thing to lift
our schools and our students. If this is done, the end result will be a better Louisiana."
Clausen has a long track record in education on both the state and national levels. She
has served as Secretary of Education to Governor Edwin Edwards and Louisiana Commissioner
of Higher Education. She currently serves as vice chairman of the Southern Regional Education
Board and is in her first year as president of Southeastern Louisiana University.
