SLU'S ROCK 'N ROAR SEEKS PRIZE-WINNING COOKS!
  HAMMOND -- Do your friends and family brag that you're a prize-winning cook? Prove it!
Enter your best recipe in the annual Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni
Association-Daily Star Rock 'n Roar Fest cooking contest.
  Rock 'n Roar, a day-long campus festival sponsored by the Alumni Association to unite the
community and roll out the "green and gold carpet" for high school students on campus for the
District Literary Rally, will return March 25 for its fourth year. Also for the fourth year, the
Alumni Association and Daily Star will sponsor a cooking contest with categories for cooks of
all ages.
  Categories are: high school students (desserts); Southeastern students (appetizers); and
community members (main dish or casserole).
  The top four finalists from each category, chosen by members of Southeastern's Family and
Consumer Sciences department, will cook a serving for 12 for a panel of celebrity and
professional judges at the Rock 'n Roar Fest. The contest begins at 9 a.m., judging is scheduled
for 11 a.m. and a tasting will be open to the public beginning at noon at White Hall. First, second
and third place prizes will be awarded in each category.
  The deadline for submitting recipes is 4 p.m., March 20. Recipes may be brought to the
Daily Star or the Alumni Center. (Be sure to include name, address and phone number.) For

  Rock 'n Roar Fest IV, scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature food, music, North Oaks
Health System Health Fair, displays, plant sale, children's activities (including a petting zoo),
educational displays for Southeastern departments, and art, baseball and dance camps.
