SLU MUSIC FACULTY SHOWCASE COPLAND IN "QUIET CITY" CONCERT
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University faculty musicians will showcase the
music of American composer Aaron Copland in "Quiet City," a Fanfare concert Nov. 2 in Pottle
Music Building Auditorium.
The concert will feature soprano Emily Truckenbrod and pianist Henry Jones in "Emily
Dickinson Poems" and pianist David Evenson in "Piano Sonata."
Yakov Voldman will conduct the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra in excerpts from
"Rodeo." Bryan DePoy, trumpet, and Lisa Lalev, English horn, will join the orchestra for "Quiet
City."
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
Evenson, head of Southeastern's music and dramatic arts department, said the faculty
chose to feature Copland because he is "the most influential American composer. Copland gave
American music its identify, separate from European models."
For more information, call Evenson at 504-549-2184.
