SLU MATH PROFESSOR RECEIVES NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University mathematics assistant professor Kent
Neuerberg has been selected as a Project NexT (New Experiences in Teaching) fellow.
     The national program taps new or recent doctoral degree recipients who are interested in
improving the teaching and learning of undergraduate mathematics. Only 60 fellows are chosen
annually.
     Neuerburg received his doctoral degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in
May 1998 and joined the Southeastern faculty the following August.
     Fellows participate in national workshops and meetings and form a network with
experienced mathematicians who share their interest in undergraduate mathematics education
and concerns about balancing teaching, research and professional service.
     During the year, fellows will discuss alternative methods of teaching and assessment and
using technology in the classroom.
     "I am looking forward to implementing some of the changes at Southeastern," Neuerburg
said.
