ARTIST TO GIVE SLIDE LECTURE AT SOUTHEASTERN APRIL 12
HAMMOND -- Artist Ed Pramuk will present a slide lecture at Southeastern Louisiana
University at 2 p.m., April 12, in the East Stadium Art Center.
Earlier this year, a retrospective of Pramuk's work, "Space, Myth and Memory," was
exhibited at LSU, where he was a member of the university's art faculty for more than two
decades. Pramuk was among the artists commissioned to create "graphic commentaries"
complementing a special 1996 edition of "Louisiana Literature," Southeastern's literary
magazine.
Pramuk studied at Kent State University and Queens College in New York. After
working in an abstract style for many years, he moved toward figuration in the 1980s. His work
has been shown in New Orleans, Houston and New York and has been selected for the New
York based "Artists Choice Museum" and the National Academy of Design. He had a solo
exhibition at the New Orleans Museum of Art and in 1999 was featured along with his daughter
Andrea in an exhibit at the Albert Blue Gallery in Baton Rouge.
The Art Center is located in the old bookstore facilities in East Stadium. For additional
information, call Don Marshall, Clark Hall Gallery director, 504-549-5080.
