PHI KAPPA PHI INDUCTS NEW MEMBERS FOR SPRING 2000
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University has inducted 25 students and one
faculty member into its chapter of the prestigious Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
To be considered for membership in the national honor society, a student must be in the
top ten percent of the senior or graduate class and hold a minimum 3.4 grade point average.
Sound character is a supporting criterion. Faculty and alumni are chosen for outstanding
contributions to their fields.
Hammond native and 1965 Southeastern graduate Perry Snyder, executive director of Phi
Kappa Phi's national office, was the guest speaker at the April 28 induction ceremony and
banquet.
Joseph Evans Burns of the Communication and Theatre Department was inducted as a
faculty member, while Thomas L. Brown Jr. and Kenneth R. Wells of Mandeville, Thomas
Greckhamer of Hammond, and Preston C. Rodrigue of LaPlace were selected for membership as
graduate students.
