RECEPTION HONORS PERGOLIZZI AUGUST 10
     HAMMOND --  Southeastern Louisiana University friends and alumni are invited to a
reception on August 10 to welcome the university's new athletic director, Frank Pergolizzi. The
reception is scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center on University Ave.
     Pergolizzi, who joined the Southeastern staff in late June, became the tenth director of
athletics in the 75-year history of Southeastern. He replaced interim Athletic Director Richard
Sharp, who served in the position since the August 1999 resignation of Tom Douple.
     Prior to joining the Southeastern staff, Pergolizzi served as the East Tennessee State
University (ETSU) director of athletics since May 1998.  In his two-year stay at ETSU, the Bucs
captured five Southern Conference championships, produced four NCAA All-Americans and
sent four teams to NCAA championships.
     Pergolizzi received his master's degree in physical education and sports administration
from Western Michigan University in 1987 and bachelor's degree in American civilization from
Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. in 1978.
