News release Public Information Office   SLU 10880   Hammond, LA 70402   phone: 985-549-2341   fax: 985-549-2061 publicinfo@selu.edu     www.selu.edu/news Contact: Christina Chapple Date: 10/31/02   SLU TO CHRISTEN “PERFORMANCE CIRCLE” WITH NOON CONCERT FRIDAY       HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University officially dedicated its new campus outdoor stage with a ribbon cutting last month, but the university will christen it with music at noon on Friday, Nov. 1.       Southeastern's jazz combos, directed by Allen Zurcher, will be the first ensemble to perform on the small stage. Known as the "Performance Circle" and funded by Southeastern's Student Government Association, it is built in the shape of a music note. David Evenson, head of the department of music and dramatic arts, said Friday's concert is the first in a planned lunchtime concert series.       The concert is open to both the campus and community. The stage is located in Friendship Circle (Western Ave.), next to the Pottle Music Building. Return to News Releases
