STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS AT SLU'S NURSING HONORS

     HAMMOND, LA --  Brittany G. Yarbrough of Donaldsonville received the
Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing's highest honor, the Dean's Award, at the
school's thirteenth annual honor's convocation on May 5.
     The School also presented two awards to seniors based on their scholarship, leadership
and character. The Opal Carl Memorial Award, named for the School of Nursing's founder, went
to Malcolm Fitzhugh of Pine Grove. Andre Charlson of Baton Rouge won the Sister Mary
Agnes Fortier Award, given by the South Louisiana League for Nursing.  
     Mary Beauvais of Ventress received the Distinguished Graduate Scholar Award, while   
  Wendy Collins of Abita Springs received the Eveyln Davis Memorial Award and Alicia
Restivo of Denham Springs received the Spirit of Nursing Award.
     The Outstanding Senior awards were given to Bradley Stockwell of Addis, Outstanding
1st semester senior and Glenda Natale of Baton Rouge, Outstanding Graduating Senior. The
recipients of the Outstanding Junior Awards were Jennifer Ficklin of Gonzales (Baton Rouge
Campus) and Janice Parker of Hammond (Hammond Campus). Christopher Franklin of
Baton Rouge received special recognition from the Nurses' Christian Fellowship. 
     Recipients of awards given by Southeastern's chapter of the Student Nurses Association
included, "Most Likely to Be in the American Nurses Association," Alicia Restivo of Denham
Springs and Tangi Jackson of New Orleans; "Most Active in the Student Nurses Association," 
Christy Jones of Baton Rouge (Hammond campus) and Michele Sedatol of Pierre Part (Baton
Rouge campus).
     Four nursing faculty members also received awards. Karen Hill received the Excellence
in Teaching Award; Bonnie Meeker, Excellence in Research; and Cynthia Prestholdt and Barbara
Moffett, Excellence in Service.
