HAMMOND -- Lindsey Renee King, a 22-year-old vocal music education major from
Slidell, has been chosen Miss Southeastern 1999.
King received her crown from Miss Southeastern 1998, Aimee Jenkins, at the annual
pageant March 25 at Southeastern's Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
The daughter of Kenneth and Debra Smith, King also won the talent segment with her
rendition of "Gia' il sole dal Gange," an Italian song about the beauty of nature.
First runner-up was Amber Lee Stevens, a sophomore elementary education major from
French Settlement, while the second runner-up award went to Erin Colleen Lyons of Baton
Rouge, a sophomore marketing major. Stevens and Lyons tied as winners of both the swimsuit
and evening wear categories, while Stevens also won the interview award.
The "Miss Congeniality" title went to Stacie Lynne Reed, a sophomore elementary
