SLU PRESIDENT TO ATTEND POWELL ADDRESS AT MONTICELLO
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University President Sally Clausen will spend
the Fourth of July at a place rich in history witnessing an event at the root of American
patriotism.
Clausen has been invited to Monticello, the historic Virginia home of Founding Father
Thomas Jefferson, to hear an address by General Colin Powell. Powell, former chairman of the
Joints Chiefs of Staff, will speak to new United States citizens, who will be administered the
Oath of Citizenship by United States District Judge Samuel G. Wilson of the Western District of
Virginia.
Clausen and other guests will have lunch at Monticello following the ceremony.
