JESSICA MARIE YOUNG WINS 2001 MISS SOUTHEASTERN CROWN
     HAMMOND -- Jessica Marie Young, a senior elementary education major from
Franklinton, has been chosen Miss Southeastern 2001.
     Young received her crown from Miss Southeastern 2000, Erin Colleen Lyons of Baton
Rouge, at the annual pageant March 22 at Southeastern's Pottle Music Building Auditorium. 
     The daughter of Beverly Young and David and Teresa Young, Young also won the
swimsuit, evening wear and talent segments of the pageant and tied for first place in the
interview segment. For the talent segment, she sang "Next Time I Love."
     First runner-up was junior psychology major Heather Nicole McLain of Husser, the
daughter of Warren and Wendy McLain, who tied with Young in the interview category. The
second runner-up award went to Shannon Marie Brewer of LaPlace, the daughter of Scott and
Sonny Brewer. Brewer is a freshman majoring in psychology.
     The "Miss Congeniality" title went to Monique Marie Larr‚, a junior marketing major
from Metairie. She is the daughter of Frank Larr‚ and Bessie Larr‚.
     Young will advance to the Miss Louisiana pageant, which will be held in Monroe on June
16.
