NINE VIE FOR MISS SOUTHEASTERN CROWN
HAMMOND -- Miss Louisiana, Heather Dupree of Baton Rouge, will emcee
Southeastern Louisiana University's 35th annual Miss Southeastern pageant March 25 at the
Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
Aimee Denise Jenkins, Miss Southeastern 1998, will crown her successor, one of nine
contestants in the 7 p.m. pageant. Held at Southeastern since 1949, the pageant has been a Miss
America preliminary since 1962.
Admission is $5 for the general public and free to Southeastern students.
The theme of the 1998 pageant, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, is "Denim
and Pearls." Entertainment will include Dupree's ventriloquism act.
Contestants are freshman liberal arts major Amanda Guitreaux of Livingston; senior
criminal justice major Nathalie Victoria Neuner of New Orleans; sophomore marketing major
Erin Colleen Lyons of Baton Rouge, sophomore elementary education major Stacie Lynne Reed
of Baton Rouge, junior mass communication major Betsey Ellen Brantley of Cordova, Tenn.,
sophomore elementary education major Amber Lee Stevens of French Settlement; sophomore
speech, language and hearing major Dara Lynn Drucker of Kenner; junior vocal music education
major Lindsey Renee King of Slidell and freshman general business major Monique Marie Larr‚
of Metairie.
