CONFERENCE SCHEDULED ON TEACHING MIDDLE GRADES
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University will sponsor a working conference for Louisiana teacher preparation faculty June 10-11.
“Preparing for Teaching Middle Grades” will be held at Southeastern’s Teacher Education Center in Hammond.
Faculty members from all Louisiana universities with teacher preparation programs will have the opportunity to network with nationally recognized middle school experts, middle school principals and master teachers.
Eying middle school teacher preparation in general, the conference will focus on the impact of the No Child Left Behind Act on middle school certification. Featured speakers are Ken McEwin of Appalachian State University in Kentucky and John Swain of Otterbein College in Ohio.
More than 45 faculty from Southeastern, LSU, Southern University, the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and other Louisiana public and private institutions are scheduled to attend.
