CONFERENCE SCHEDULED ON TEACHING MIDDLE GRADES
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana
University and Louisiana State University will sponsor a working conference
for Louisiana teacher preparation faculty June 10-11.
“Preparing for Teaching Middle
Grades” will be held at Southeastern’s Teacher Education Center in Hammond.
Faculty members from all Louisiana
universities with teacher preparation programs will have the opportunity
to network with nationally recognized middle school experts, middle school
principals and master teachers.
Eying middle school teacher preparation
in general, the conference will focus on the impact of the No Child Left
Behind Act on middle school certification. Featured speakers are Ken McEwin
of Appalachian State University in Kentucky and John Swain of Otterbein
College in Ohio.
More than 45 faculty from Southeastern, LSU, Southern University,
the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and other Louisiana public and private
institutions are scheduled to attend. |
