SLU JAZZ ENSEMBLE CONCERT HONORS MASHBURNS
HAMMOND --The Southeastern Louisiana University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Willis
Delony, will present a special concert in honor of Hammond businessman Jack Mashburn and his
late wife, Sadie Pugh Mashburn, at 3 p.m., April 18, at the Ralph R. Pottle Music Building
Auditorium.
"A Sunday Afternoon with Jack and Sadie" will feature a program of Big Band music and
other favorites.
In conjunction with the concert, sponsored by First Guaranty Bank, Hammond Mayor
Louis Tallo also will honor Mashburn for lifetime contributions to the community. Mashburn, a
1933 Southeastern graduate, was one of the founders of the Southeastern Development
Foundation. His family's business ventures have included Mashburn's Restaurant, Pugh's
Florist, tire dealerships and aviation industry pursuits. Mrs. Mashburn was Miss Hammond 1934.
While admission is free, donations, which will help fund future Jazz Ensemble activities,
are welcome and may be mailed to SLU Jazz, c/o First Guaranty Bank, P.O. Box 2009,
Hammond, LA 70404.
A reception will follow the concert in Southeastern's Oak Grove Room in Twelve Oaks.
