"ENCORE!" MUSIC SERIES MARCH EVENTS
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Music Department's "Encore!"
spring concert series continues in the month of March.    
     Kicking off the month is the comic opera "Christopher Columbus" March 5 and 7. 
Tickets are $10 for the general public and free for SLU students. 
     Guest performers for the month include pianist Michael Gurt from Louisiana State
University's School of Music and jazz artist Al Batiste and the Southern University Jazz
Ensemble. Also on tap are performances by Southeastern's Wind Ensemble directed by Frank
Dubuy, and guitarist Pat Kerber in a faculty recital.
     Unless otherwise indicated, "Encore!" concerts are free and are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in
the Pottle Music Building Auditorium.

MARCH     
      March 5 and 7 -- SLU Opera-Musical Theatre Workshop presents "Christopher
Columbus" by Jacques Offenbach. Tickets, $10 general admission, $5 for senior citizens, SLU
faculty & staff and non SLU students.   SLU students free with I.D.
      March 10 -- Guest piano recital by Michael Gurt, Louisiana State University School of
Music.
      March 12 -- Guest Jazz artists Al Batiste and the Southern University Jazz Ensemble.
      March 17 -- SLU Wind Ensemble, conducted by SLU Director of Bands Frank Dubuy. 
      March 31 -- Faculty guitar recital by Pat Kerber.
