"WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH" LECTURES CONTINUES WITH FORENSIC
ANTHROPOLOGY
HAMMOND -- A talk by Louisiana State University forensic anthropologist Mary
Manhein and lectures by four Southeastern Louisiana University faculty members continue
Southeastern's celebration of March as Women's History Month.
The celebration, the brainchild of students studying women's literature with English

1983 Southeastern graduate Robin Roberts of ESPN and ABC television, Rep. Diane Winston,
and Loyola University journalism professor Sherry Lee Alexander.
Women's History Month's "Her-Story Lecture Series" includes day and evening lectures

p.m. each Tuesday in the Student Union Theatre, while presentations during the day are
scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday at Sims Memorial Library. All events are free and open to
campus and community.

Services (FACES) Laboratory, will speak on Tuesday, March 13. Manhein has worked in the
field of forensic anthropology for 15 years. She has a master's degree in anthropology and is a
fellow in the Physical Anthropology section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. She
is also a deputy coroner for East Baton Rouge Parish, and is an expert witness in forensic
anthropology. She has handled more than 400 forensic cases, including retrieval and
identification of victims of industrial explosions and fires.
