SLU LIBRARY'S OUTREACH PROGRAM  OFFERS MINI WORKSHOPS
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Sims Memorial Library is offering a
series of mini-workshops for the spring semester as part of their outreach program. The free
workshops provide hands-on instruction on the Internet, genealogy, utilizing government agency
sites and library research from home for students and faculty.
     The workshops are free and open to participants from the campus and community. The
approximately one-hour sessions will be held in the library in room 355. Registration is required
and enrollment is limited. To register, call 504-549-5055.
     The sessions are:
       Beginning Internet, noon, Tuesday, January 12: an introduction to the Internet, no
experience is necessary.
       Advanced Internet, noon, Thursday January 14: an introduction to search engines.
Some experience with Internet browsers required.
        Information from Uncle Sam, noon, Friday February 5: how to find statistics,
regulations, reports, recipes and other interesting items published by U.S. government agencies.
        Genealogy, noon, Friday March 5: a beginner's guide to researching your roots.
