SOUTHEASTERN HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL LIBRARY FAIR AUG. 20
HAMMOND, LA -- "Challenges, Choices, Connections and Change" is the theme for
the Sims Memorial Library's annual Library Fair at Southeastern Louisiana University. The
Library Fair is scheduled for Monday August 20. The fair is free and open to the public.
The fair will include tours of the library and seminars through out the day. "The sessions
are designed to shed light on the vast amount of information choices available in today's high-
tech academic library," said co-chair Bonnie Wood. Wood and Barbara D'Angelo are serving as
chairmen for the event.
The library tours will be at 9 am, 11 am and 2 pm. Seminars topics will include Searching
the Internet, Finding and Using Government Resources, Using e-mail, Remote Access to Library
Resources, Designing Effective Library Assignments and Searching the Online Catalog, LINUS.
The staff will have information about the services the library offers and will be held in the
lobby and reference room highlighting some of the library s new services including electronic
reserves, "ask a librarian" service new databases, the collection development/acquisition web
page, chat rooms and electronic request forms.
"The Library Fair is for Southeastern students, faculty, staff and community members.
Southeastern's Library is the largest library in the Florida Parishes and we invite everyone to
come and see what we have to offer, said Wood.
