CHAUVIN JOINS KSLU IN MAJOR NEWS EXPANSION MOVE
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Public Radio Station KSLU (90.9
FM) has named Munson "Tim" Chauvin as assistant news director. Chauvin will cover the
Southeastern campus and the Tangipahoa Parish School Board as well as host the newly-
expanded morning news show with News Director Shanna Sissom.
Chauvin, a Hammond native, holds a master's degree in history/government and has 16
years professional radio experience.
Also, senior psychology major Brian McCarthy of Slidell has been named news producer
and will oversee production of a new line-up of morning speciality shows. The shows, broadcast
from 7:30-8 a.m., weekdays, were launched this summer when KSLU was forced to replace
"Monitor Radio," which no longer produces its daily news journal.
The KSLU morning shows include Hammond attorney John Feduccia's look Tangipahoa
Parish history on Monday and discussions of stock market trends and other financial subjects by
financial advisor Frank Van Mullem on Tuesday. The Southeastern Public Information Office's
"Southeastern Focus," hosted by Coordinator of Promotions Carol Dotson, airs on Wednesday
and on Thursday, psychotherapist Bonnye Pardo comments on current events. Sissom said a
Friday sports show will debut this fall.
" Tim and Brian are true assets to the station and the university," said Sissom. "We're
going to cover nearly every campus event while continuing our commitment to provide a full-
range of news and information on the local, state, and national levels."
