JURIED STUDENT ART EXHIBIT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

HAMMOND, LA -- Delaina LeBlanc of Covington took Best of Show and Woody
Stevens of Hammond won for Best First Year Student Work at Southeastern Louisiana
University's 1998 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. The winners were announced Monday
April 27. The exhibit, sponsored by Southeastern's Visual Arts Society and Clark Hall Gallery, is
on display in the Sims Memorial Library until May 15.
The pieces were judged by local artists Maria Lyles of Hammond, who is also a
Southeastern graduate and Susan Brunner and Alexei Kazantsev of Covington.
The 1998 winners are:
Sculpture: Annie Stohl of Ponchatoula; Honorable mention: Dara Chambers, Slidell;
Ceramics: Terry Weisheit, Mandeville; Honorable mention: Trish Stagg, Ruston;
Painting: Matt Kenyon, Baton Rouge; Honorable mention: Ryan Thompkins, Hammond;
Printmaking: Gerald Ancar III, Hammond; Honorable mention: Michelle McCormick,
Hammond;
Graphic Design: Mark Rhodes, Slidell; Honorable mention: Dean Cavalier, Robert;
Photography: Judy Galloway, Abita Springs; Honorable mention: Cherie Pitre, Amite;
Electronic Art: Kim Marshall, Hammond; Honorable mention: Cory Malone, Ponchatoula;
Drawing: Alisha Camus, Greenwell Springs; Honorable mention: Jason Montz, Destrehan;
Mixed Media: Brenda Bergeron, Hammond; Honorable mention: Christopher Morse,
Mandeville.
Andy Canady of Hammond received an Honorable Mention in the Best First Year Student Work
category.

SLU Juried Art Exhibit/ADD ONE
Visual Arts Society president, Jennifer Loyd of Hammond said some of the works are still
available for sale. For more information call Visual Arts at 549-2193. The exhibit is open during
Library hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-11 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, 2-11
p.m.
