JULY 15 DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR SLU ADMISSION WITHOUT LATE FEE
     HAMMOND -- Prospective students have until July 15 to apply for Southeastern
Louisiana University's fall 2000 semester without paying a $50 late fee.
     Students can apply for admission online (www.selu.edu), by mail (SLU 10752,
Hammond, LA 70402) or in person (Enrollment Services Office, University Center, 700 W.
University Ave.) 
     After July 15, a $50 late fee will be added to the $20 application fee. 
To apply, students must send Southeastern an application form and fee and a proof of
immunization form that can also be printed from the university's web site. The university should
also have the student's ACT scores and high school transcripts or GED scores/diploma on file.
     In fall 2000, Southeastern will implement new quality admission standards. Under the
new standards, beginning freshmen will need to meet one of three  requirements: an ACT
composite of at least 20, ranking in the upper 50 percent of their  high school graduating class or
a "C" (at least 2.0) high school grade point average on 17.5 units of English, mathematics, social
studies, science and other core courses. 
     Transfer students will have to have earned 12 hours of course work and have at least a 2.0
grade point average or be in good academic standing according to Southeastern standards and
eligible to re-enter the institution from which they are transferring.
