SLU JAZZ ENSEMBLE, CHAMBER WINDS PLAN CONCERTS
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Winds
will present free concerts Nov. 19 and 20, respectively, in Pottle Music Building Auditorium. 
     At the concerts, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., the music department will accept monetary
donations for the Central American victims of Hurricane Mitch.
     Directed by Southeastern's director of jazz studies Willis Delony, the 17-member Jazz
Ensemble's performance of Big Band music will feature a solo performance by music professor
Mark Auffarth, trumpet, and also will spotlight music department alumnus John Lyons on tenor
saxophone. Also on the program is a student quintet composed of Lee Hick, saxophone;
Dominick Messina, trumpet; Maarten Vissers, piano; Thomas Timphony, base, and Daniel Caro,
drums.
     The Chamber Winds concert will feature the premier performance of a transcription of
Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C major by music major Brennan Arceneaux of Hammond. 
     The concert will feature soloists Kristen Kean, flute; David Petit, oboe, and Charlie
Forrest, alto saxophone.
