SOUTHEASTERN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL SET NOV 1-11
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University celebrates International Week
November 1-11 with lectures, films, a cooking demonstration and guest speakers.
Astrid Fischel, vice-president of Costa Rica, will speak on "The Role of Latin American
Women for the Next Century," at Nov. 8 in the Pottle Auditorium. Fischel also plans to meet with
Southeastern administrators and students to explore academic and cultural exchanges and other
initiatives between Southeastern and Costa Rican institutions of higher education
Dr. Pierre Kaufke, a native of Alsace, France, will spend three days at Southeastern
during International Week. Kaufke, an associate professor of English and Foreign Languages at
the University of West Florida, will give a lecture on Nov. 3, a cooking demonstration on Nov. 4
and join Southeastern's Meg Marshall, head of the Foreign Languages and Literatures
Department, and Brad O'Hara, director of the Master of Business Administration program, for a
Nov. 4 presentation on the university's French Study Tour 2000.
All International Festival events are free and open to the public. The week's schedule
includes:
