SLU NAMES TWO TO OVERSEE CAMPUS UPKEEP, CONSTRUCTION
HAMMOND -- Architect Michael Lee Rickenbaker has been named director of Facility
Planning at Southeastern Louisiana University and engineer William Eugene Howe has joined the
staff as director of Physical Plant and Services.
Rickenbaker comes to Southeastern from North Carolina State University where he was
consulting architect for campus planning. Rickenbaker will be responsible for campus design,
construction and renovation projects. He is a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned a
masters degree in architecture, and the North Carolina State University School of Design. He
replaces Don Elbers who has returned to the university's chemistry and physics department
faculty.
Howe joins the Southeastern administration after two years as director of Tangipahoa
Parish's Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1. He is a former acting deputy assistant
director of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources from 1991-94 and director of the East
Baton Rouge City-Parish Department of Public Works. Howe has a civil engineering degree from
Louisiana State University and is also an ordained minister. He will oversee the repair,
maintenance and upkeep of the Southeastern and Baton Rouge School of Nursing campuses. He
replaces Terry Greer, who is now employed at Louisiana State University.
