SOUTHEASTERN WIND SYMPHONY HEADLINES HONOR BAND FEST
CONCERT
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana
University Wind Symphony will headline the 2002 Department of Music and
Dramatic Arts Collage Concert on Friday, December 6, at 7 p.m. The annual
concert event features music students and faculty in a one-hour montage
celebrating the 140 high school musicians selected for membership in the
Southeastern Honor Band Festival.
The concert is free of charge
and will be held in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium. Performers
include the Southeastern Trumpet Ensemble, mezzo-soprano Daveda Karanas,
guitar professor Patrick Kerber, trombonist David Johansen, the Southeastern
Faculty Woodwind Trio, saxophone instructor Allen Zurcher, graduate clarinet
student Alexander Negruta, and soprano Jacquie Brecheen of Ponchatoula.
The Wind Symphony will perform
Dmitri Shostakovich's "Festive Overture" and Percy Grainger's "Lincolnshire
Posy." Rounding out the evening will be guest conductor and composer
Mark D. Camphouse conducting his latest work for wind band, "In Memoriam."
Camphouse is director of Bands at Radford University and is at Southeastern
as guest clinician and conductor of the 2002 High School Honors Wind Symphony.
