8TH ANNUAL GOSPEL CONCERT HELD AT SOUTHEASTERN
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University s Gospel Music Summer Workshop
For Young People will perform Saturday, August 22, at 8 p.m. in the Pottle Music Auditorium.
     The Office of Multicultural and International Student Affairs will sponsor the eighth
annual closing ceremony concert which will be performed by those who participated in
Southeastern s two-week workshop. The choir members vary in ages between 10 and 22. The
purpose of the workshop is to enhance musical skills and to increase young people s knowledge
of the historical roots of gospel music.
     In addition, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to two workshop participants who have
been accepted into the SLU freshman class, have a 2.0 or higher grade point average and have
successfully participated in at least three of the last five Southeastern Music Summer Workshops.
     Concert tickets are $5 and will be on sale at the door beginning at 7 p.m. on the night of
the concert.
