MBA STUDENTS MEET WITH FRANCOFETE PUBLICITY GROUP

HAMMOND -- Three Southeastern Louisiana University Master of Business
Administration students from France met with eight members of the French FrancoFete Media
Team which visited Louisiana Jan. 16-31 to provide press reconnaissance for the FrancoFete
event which Louisiana will host in 1999.
The French-speaking press group toured Louisiana for a week in order to familiarize
themselves with the state before the 1999 festival. Their last day was spent in Gonzales having
lunch with the Southeastern students. "The press corp seemed very interested in what our
students had to say," Dr. Brad O'Hara, director of the MBA program, said. "They asked a lot of
questions about American society, Louisiana, the school system and whether or not the students
would make the decision to attend college here again. Our students spoke highly of their
experiences at Southeastern and represented themselves and the university very well."
O'Hara said that the students and members of the press corp exchanged business cards,
and the media representatives promised to send the students copies of any articles they wrote.
"Hopefully, Southeastern and our students will be mentioned," O'Hara said.
French publications represented were Ouest France and La Voix du Nord, regional
newspapers; Elle, a monthly women's magazine; Grands Reportages, a monthly travel magazine;
L'Echo Touristique, a weekly trade magazine; and Le Figaro, a national newspaper. "Le Figaro
is like the New York Times of France," O'Hara said.
French students meeting with the French delegation were Anabela Soares, Nathalie
Centomo and Frederick Simonin.
